Lesson: How to Draw a Surfboard
Today you're gonna learn how to draw a surfboard by the beach. We're gonna keep it simple and fun. Only gonna do 18 drawing steps, breaking it down easy. Let's channel those beachy vibes and get those lines and shapes into the right spots. We'll save the coloring for last. Alright, let's hit it!
Outline the Board Shape
First, draw an elongated shape that tapers at the top to outline the shape of the surfboard.
Add the Fin
Add the triangular-shaped fin attached near the bottom of the surfboard.
Draw the Rail Band
Outline the rail band by drawing a line following the main shape of the surfboard.
Draw the Stringer
Draw a straight line along the middle of the surfboard to form the stringer which stiffens the board.
Outline the Tail
Outline the tail of the surfboard stuck in the sand by creating a wavy horizontal line.
Add Palm Tree Leaves
Let’s add palm tree leaves in the foreground of our drawing. First, create the curved outline of the stems.
Draw the Leaf Fronds
Now, draw the pointy leaf fronds around each stem.
Outline the Shoreline
Outline the shoreline in the background by creating two wavy lines.
Add Pebbles
Add pebbles around the surfboard by drawing small ovals.
Draw the Sand
Draw the sandy texture of the beach by creating dots.
Outline a Starfish
Form an outline of a starfish next to the surfboard.
Draw the Horizon
Draw a straight horizontal line to form the horizon. You can use a ruler to help you with this step!
Form the Waves
Form the waves in the water by drawing wavy lines and bumpy shapes as shown.
Outline the Clouds
Outline the fluffy clouds above the horizon.
Color the Palm Tree Leaves
Color the palm tree leaves with green.
Shade the Surfboard
Shade the fin of the surfboard with dark gray. Next, color the rail band of the surfboard with orange. Then, fill in the deck with yellow.
Add Shading to the Beach
Use a muted shade of yellow to color the sandy beach. Then, color the starfish pink.
Fill in the Sea and Sky
Use varying shades of blue to color the sea and sky. Then, fill in the clouds with white.
