Lesson: How to Draw a Kite
Alright, peeps! Today, we're diving into drawing a cool looking kite way up in the sky. In just 12 steps, you'll master the shapes and details of a colorful kite blowing in the breeze. No time for playing around, so grab your sketchbook and let's get it done!
Outline the Kite
Start by drawing a diamond shape to outline the main body of the kite.
Divide the Kite
Draw a vertical line from the top to the bottom point of the diamond and a horizontal line from the left to the right point, dividing the kite into four sections.
Attach the Frame
Add the frame of the kite peeking from the corners.
Add the Tail
At the bottom point of the diamond, draw a wavy tail. Then, add the bows tied to the tail of the kite.
Outline the String
Draw a long, curved line extending down and off to one side of the drawing to outline the string.
Add Streamers
Attach thin, wavy streamers on the sides of the kite.
Draw the Pattern of the Kite
Outline the diamond pattern on the body of the kite.
Add Clouds
Add some fluffy clouds around the kite.
Shade the Kite
Use vibrant shades of pink, green and yellow to make the kite stand out.
Fill in the Frame
Fill in the wooden frame of the kite with brown.
Color the Streamers and Tail
Add a pop of color to the streamers and tail of the kite by using bright, vibrant colors.
Fill in the Sky
Use light blue to color the sky. Then, color the clouds white.
