Lesson: How to Draw a Speedboat
In this lesson, we're drawing a speedboat in 15 steps! We'll keep it simple with basic shapes to get this sleek boat drawing look like its cruising through the water. No need for all that fancy detailed stuff, just lay down the base shapes and work from there. Locate your drawing gear, and let's draw this speedboat like a boss.
Draw the Hull Outline
Start by drawing a long, curved line to form the base of the speedboat's hull.
Form the Gunwale
Form the top edge of the boat known as the gunwale by drawing a long, pointed shape.
Attach the Motor
Draw the rectangular motor attached to the back of the speedboat’s hull.
Add Water Splashes
Add the water splashes around the back of the speedboat by drawing bumpy shapes. Outline the tiny water splashes by adding small circles. Make sure to erase any overlapping lines.
Draw the Hatch:
Draw the rectangular outline of the hatch.
Attach the Bimini
Outline the elongated shape of the bimini cover. Then, draw the thin, curving frames connecting it to the boat.
Add the Stern Cockpit
Form the shape of the stern cockpit beneath the bimini cover.
Outline the Bow Cockpit
Draw the triangular outline of the bow cockpit near the front of the boat.
Draw the Horizon
Create a long horizontal line to draw the horizon.
Add Water Waves
Draw wavy lines to outline the water waves.
Form the Clouds
Form the large, fluffy clouds above the horizon.
Shade the Speedboat
Color the hatch and motor with dark gray. Next, use a red color to fill in the bimini cover, cockpits, and the hull of the boat. Then, fill in the gunwale and the frames of the bimini with yellow.
Color the Water Splashes
Fill in the water splashes at the back of the speedboat with light shades of blue.
