Lesson: Draw Summer
In today’s drawing lesson you will learn how to draw summer. This little drawing project will take 30 lessons in total. So sharpen those pencils and let’s get down to business!
Outline a Surfboard

Start by drawing a long, oval shape of a surfboard standing vertically.
Add the Pattern of the Surfboard

Now, draw lines along the surfboard to add some style to it.
Form the Base of the Surfboard

Form the base of the surfboard touching the sand by drawing a bumpy horizontal line.
Draw a Beach Ball

Draw the circular outline of a beach ball next to the surfboard.
Form the Base of the Beach Ball

Next, draw the bumpy outline of the sand touching the bottom part of the beach ball. Don’t forget to erase the extra lines.
Outline the Valve

Draw a smaller circle on the beach ball where the valve is usually attached to.
Add the Beach Ball Pattern

Outline the different colored sections of the beach ball by drawing curved lines.
Form the Shoreline

Form the shoreline by drawing two wavy horizontal lines.
Draw the Horizon Line

Draw a straight horizontal line to form the horizon.
Add a Breaking Wave

Erase parts of the horizon line to add a breaking wave.
Form the Crest

Form the outline of the topmost part of the breaking wave, called the crest.
Draw Water Splashes

Draw tiny circles below the crest of the wave to add some water splashes.
Outline the Waves

Add curved and wavy lines to emphasize the direction of the water.
Add an Island

Let’s draw an island in the background by creating a curved line.
Draw a Palm Tree

Next, add a palm tree on the island by first forming its tall trunk.
Outline the Stems

Outline the stems of the palm tree by drawing an X-shaped line.
Form the Leaves

Form the shape of the palm tree leaves around the stems.
Add Another Palm Tree

Now, add another palm tree next to the one we drew by creating two curved lines.

Draw another X-shaped outline of the stems, similar to the previous step.

Then, add the bumpy shape of the palm tree leaves.
Draw the Clouds

Add fluffy clouds above the horizon.
Add Rocks

Draw tiny rocks scattered around the beach.
Form the Texture of the Sand

Add dots to emphasize the texture of the sandy beach.
Fill in the Beach Ball

Use white, red, orange, yellow, and blue to color the beach ball.
Shade the Surfboard

Shade the surfboard with red and yellow.
Color the Sand

Color the sandy beach with shades of yellow. Then, fill in the rocks with light brown.
Fill in the Sea

Use white and a light shade of blue to color the shoreline, as well as the crest and splashes of the breaking wave. Now, use a darker shade of blue for the body of water.
Color the Island

Now, color in the island and the trunk of the palm trees with shades of brown.
Shade the Leaves

Shade the leaves of the palm tree with a green crayon.
Color the Sky

Use light blue to color the sky, adding lighter shades near the horizon for a gradient effect. Then, fill in the clouds with a white crayon.
