Easy Beach Drawing

Let me show you how to make an easy beach drawing! I promise to keep things simple and fun ;) Grab your materials - pencil, drawing paper, and shading tools. As far as shading tools go...markers, crayons, OR colored pencils will do just fine. You just need something to add color between the outlines you draw in the beginning half of the lesson.
If you’ve got one, a black marker will be handy for making your outlines crisp. And while I’m bringing up tools, a ruler will be helpful too because there are some long straight lines in this drawing. If you don’t have a ruler, no big deal.
The drawing will take about 50 minutes but of course you can go slower. Plan on capturing the essence of the beach in a simple way. Nothing too complicated. Let Dawn (your instructor) lead you through each step.
Estimated Time: 30 minutes

Lesson: Easy Beach Drawing
Today, we will draw an easy beach scene. There are 15 drawing steps that begin with the outlines and end with adding color. We call this "shading". Let's get started!
Draw the Horizon Line

Start by creating a straight horizontal line near the top part of your drawing to form the horizon line.
Outline the Shoreline

Draw two wavy lines to outline the shoreline, where sand meets the sea.
Add the Waves:

Create wavy lines to emphasize the flow of water.
Draw an Auger Shell

Draw a small auger shell washed ashore.
Form a Starfish

Form the outline of a starfish near the shoreline.
Outline a Scallop Shell

Outline the shape of a large scallop shell.
Add the Ribs of the Shell

Draw curving lines to form the ribs of the scallop shell.
Draw Smaller Scallop Shells

Now, draw more scallop shells scattered on the beach.
Add a Shark Eye Shell

Form the spiral shaped shark eye shell next to the scallop shells.
Form the Texture of the Beach

Form the sandy texture of the beach by adding dots. Then, draw small rocks and pebbles.
Outline the Clouds

Outline the bumpy shape of the clouds above the horizon.
Color the Shells

Shade the different shells and starfish with vibrant colors like red, yellow, orange and purple.
Fill in the Sand

Color the sand with beige and muted shades of yellow. Then, fill in the rocks with brown.
Shade the Water

Now, use light blue to color the shoreline. Next, fill in the body of water with blue.
Color the Sky

Use light blue to fill in the sky. Then, color the clouds white.
