Outline the Head
First, draw an oval outline of the axolotl’s head.
Add the Face
Draw two circles for the eyes. Then, add a curved line for the mouth.
Attach the Gills
Attach the axolotl’s gills at the side of its head.
Add Filaments
Add the feather-like filaments around the axolotl’s gills.
Outline the Body
Outline the axolotl’s body by drawing two curved lines.
Attach the Tail
Attach its long, pointy tail.
Add the Legs
Add its short legs attached to its body. Then, form the shape of its feet.
Outline the Dorsal Crest
Outline the wavy dorsal crest around its tail.
Draw the Soil
Outline the soil by drawing a wavy horizontal line. Then, add texture by creating dots.
Add Aquatic Plants
Add aquatic plants growing from the soil.
Outline the Bubbles
Outline the round water bubbles above the axolotl.
Color the Body
Use pink to fill in the axolotl’s head, body and tail. Next, use a very light shade of pink to color its dorsal crest. Then, use black for its eyes.
Shade the Gills
Shade the gills with light pink, and its filaments with deep, vibrant pink.
Add Shading to the Plants and Soil
Color the plants with green, and the soil with brown.
Fill in the Water
Fill in the water with blue. Then, use a lighter shade of blue for the bubbles.
