Lesson: Tiger Drawing for Kids
The lesson below breaks it down into fifteen kid-friendly steps. We start with simple shapes and lines, then add details to make our tiger look 3D. Don't worry, you got this! Just follow along and you'll have your own tiger drawing in no time. Grab that pencil and let's get to work!
Form the Head
First, draw a curved shape to form the tiger’s head as shown.
Draw the Snout
Now, draw its triangular-like nose. Then, create short curved lines to add detail to its snout.
Outline the Mouth
Draw two circles attached to the base of the tiger’s nose to form its muzzle. Then, add a curved line at the bottom for its mouth.
Outline the Eyes
Outline the tiger’s oval-shaped eyes.
Attach the Ears
Attach the small rounded ears on top of the tiger’s head.
Form the Cheeks
Form the fuzzy outline of the tiger’s cheeks.
Outline the Torso
Draw the curving outline of the tiger’s torso connected to the base of its head.
Attach the Front Legs
Attach the tiger’s front legs to its torso. Then, form the shape of its paws.
Draw the Body
Form its elongated body by drawing a smooth curved line for its back. Then, add the fuzzy outline of its underbelly.
Add the Hind Leg
Add the shape of its visible hind leg attached to the bottom of its body similar to the illustration.
Attach the Tail
Attach the tiger’s long, curved tail to the end of its body.
Fill in the Eyes
Fill in the eyes with black. Then, add a white shine in its eyes.
Color the Nose and Mouth
Fill in the nose with a pink color. Then, use white for the muzzle and mouth.
Shade the Tiger’s Body
First, fill in the cheeks, underbelly, underside of its legs and the tip of its tail with a cream color. Now, use light pink for its inner ears. Then, color the rest of its body with light orange.
Add the Striped Pattern
Add the striped pattern along the tiger’s head, body, tail and legs using a black color.
