Lesson: Easy Seascape Drawing
We are about to begin my easy seascape drawing lesson. We'll keep it simple and as we sketch out the sea, bright sun and some distant sailboats. No stress, just good vibes as we break it down in 18 easy steps. So grab your materials and let me show you the first few lines to draw....
Draw the Horizon Line
Start by drawing a horizontal line to represent the horizon.
Outline a Hull
Outline the elongated shape of a boat’s hull.
Attach the Mast
Attach the thin, rod-like mast in the middle of the boat.
Add the Boom
Add the short, horizontal boom to the mast.
Draw the Mainsail:
Draw the mainsail by creating a diagonal line.
Attach the Jib
Attach the triangular-shaped jib.
Form Another Boat
Form the thin, small outline of another boat’s hull.
Outline the Mast
Draw the vertical outline of the mast.
Add the Boom
Add the boom by drawing a short horizontal line.
Create the Mainsail
Add a triangular outline of the mainsail’s boom.
Outline the Jib of the Boat
Draw the triangular shape of the jib.
Add Waves
In the sea, draw short wavy lines to emphasize the movement of water.
Outline the Sun
Outline the circular shape of the sun. If you have something round to trace now is a good time to use it!
Draw the Clouds
Draw the fluffy shape of the clouds.
Fill in the Water
Fill in the water with a vibrant blue color.
Color the Sky
Color the sky with shades of orange. Next, add hints of yellow around the sun.
Shade the Sun and Clouds
Use white and light shades of orange to color the sun and clouds.
Add Color to the Boats
Add dark shades of brown to the boat in front. Next, use dark gray for the farther boat. Then, use an orange color to add some highlights near the edges of the boats.
