Lesson: Draw a Swimming Pool
Below you will find 18 drawing steps for learning how to draw a swimming pool. The first set of steps are just the outlines. The last group of drawing steps show you how to shade in your swimming pool drawing. I’ll be sharing with you the colors that I’m using for my drawing, but feel free to change up the colors on your end.
Draw the Pool Outline
Start by drawing six long horizontal lines to outline the swimming pool.
Add the Pool Ladder
Form two rod-like ladder rails on the pool edge. Don’t forget to erase overlapping lines.
Attach the Pool Steps
Attach the steps of the ladder by drawing horizontal lines in between the two rails.
Outline the Water Surface
Inside the pool, draw a wavy horizontal line to outline the surface of the water.
Draw an Inflatable
Form the shape of the inflatable floating on the pool.
Add the Flamingo Head
Attach an elongated flamingo head on the side of the inflatable.
Attach the Tail
Now, draw a small tail attached to the inflatable.
Draw the Pool Bottom
Draw a straight horizontal line below the ladder to outline the bottom of the pool.
Form the Wall Tiles
Form the tiles of the pool walls by drawing vertical lines.
Draw the Floor Tiles
Then, add the tiles on the pool floor by creating diagonal lines.
Add the Pool Return Jets
Draw the tiny return jets attached to the pool wall.
Outline the Outer Walls
Form the outer walls of the poolside by drawing two horizontal lines.
Draw the Lifebuoy
Draw the ring-like outline of the lifebuoy attached to the wall.
Add the Striped Pattern of the Lifebuoy
Then, add the striped pattern on the surface of the lifebuoy.
Color the Inflatable
Color the flamingo inflatable with pink. Then, shade the beak with black and white.
Shade the Poolside
Use light shades of brown to color the floor of the poolside area. Then, use a darker shade of brown for the pool’s edge.
Fill in the Water
Now, apply a very light blue color on the pool wall. Next, color the ladder above the water with white, and its railing and steps below the water with blue. Then, fill in the water with varying shades of blue.
Color the Background
Color the poolside wall with beige. Next, shade the lifebuoy with red and white. Then, color the sky with a blue crayon.
