Lesson: How to Draw a Fox
For the fox drawing lesson below I'm keepin' it really simple with basic shapes and lines. Ain't no need for any fancy stuff here. Grab your pencils and paper, and let's get this fox lookin' fierce. Follow along, and you'll have your own fox drawn with a background too!
Outline the Head
First, outline the furry and pointed shape of the fox’s head.
Attach the Ears
Attach the tall, pointed ears on top of the fox’s head.
Draw the Eyes
Draw two sharp oval-shaped eyes.
Outline the Nose
Draw the rounded shape of the fox’s nose.
Add the Mouth
Add the mouth by extending a line from the base of its nose to the bottom of its head.
Outline the Cheeks
Outline the fur on its cheeks by drawing two curved lines.
Form the Body
Form the furry elongated shape of the fox’s body connected to the base of its head.
Attach the Legs
Attach four upright legs to its body. Then, form the shape of its paws. Don’t forget to erase any overlapping lines.
Add the Tail
Add the fox’s thick bushy tail attached to the end of its body.
Outline the Ground
Outline the ground by drawing a long wavy horizontal line. Then, add short bumpy horizontal lines near the fox’s paws.
Add Trees
Form the tall trees in the background. Then, add snow on top of the branches.
Color the Eyes and Nose
Color the eyes and nose with black. Then, add hints of shimmer to its eyes and nose.
Add Shading to the Fox’s Body
Use a light shade of pink to fill in the inner ears. Next, shade its cheeks, underbelly and the tip of its tail with a cream color. Then, use orange to shade the rest of the fox’s body.
Shade the Paws and Ears
Add dark brown to the fox’s paws and ears.
Add Shading to the Snowy Background
First, shade the snow with white and light gray. Next, color the sky with light blue. Then, fill in the trees with dark brown.
